Dad was a keen sailor, and spent many years sailing around the South Coast of the UK with both friends and family. Our family holidays often involved heading off on adventures to places such as the Channel Islands, France and Ireland. In recent years, Dad had spent many months aboard his boat, Silver Cloud, sailing from the UK down to the Mediterranean, visiting many Spanish and Portuguese ports along the way. On a few occasions, he also had the need to call on the Royal National Lifeboat Institution for assistance. The RNLI is a charity that saves lives at sea. They provide, on call, a 24-hour lifeboat search and rescue service. Their lifesaving service is provided wherever possible by volunteers, generously supported by voluntary donations and legacies. Dad was a strong supporter of the Institution, and was always grateful for their support. Any support you are able to offer would be a fitting memory for Dad, and the life he lived to the fullest.
